The state attorney general is warning of new cases of a classic scam.
There have been two recent cases in the state that lost the victims $30,000.
In one case, a mother received a call from someone claiming her out-of-state daughter was in an accident and needed $16,000 in cash.
The other scam involved a pop-up on a woman’s iPhone claiming there were fraudulent Apply Pay charges and directing her to a toll-free number. While on the phone, she was instructed to take out $15,000 in cash and give it to a “government agent” who would pick it up at the door.
Officials in the AG’s office say to never click on links that you did not request, and never answer unexpected calls or texts.
