Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official is encouraging residents to take precautions as scammers continue to try to trick consumers.
According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, one such ploy involves deed fraud or home title theft which involves the forging of documents in order to sell the home, take out a mortgage, or rent it to tenants.
Consumers are advised to not sign legal documents in a rush, consult an attorney before signing documents, and sign up to receive alerts about property sales through the Butler County Public Access site.
Anyone who believes that they may have been a victim of scams like these is asked to contact the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
