Attorney General Dave Sunday is alerting Pennsylvanians about fake utility company scams.
According to Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement officer, scammers have been pretending to be a utility provider to gain access to personal information.
But the office has provided these tips on how to protect yourself.
- Access your utility company website directly
- Call the customer service number on your utility bill
- Be cautious of urgent payment demands
- Do not call advertised numbers online
- Do not provide banking information unless you have confirmed you’re speaking with a legitimate provider
If you believe you are a victim or have been targeted you can contact the Attorney Generals Bureau of Consumer Protection Online.
