The Commonwealths top enforcement office is reminding Pennsylvanians to be aware of holiday scams this year.
Attorney General Dave Sunday reminds residents of common scams that come around during the holiday season including scammers seeking donations, fake websites that resemble real ones, and online pet scams.
Some tactics to avoid scams include never pay with a prepaid gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or money orders. Residents should also read the fine print on buy now, pay later services and be wary of text messages or emails that appear to be from delivery services, banks, or retailers that were not initiated by the receiver.
Anyone who believes that they may have been scammed is advised to file a report with local police and file a complaint with the attorney general’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
