Butler County approved a new memo of understanding that will help formalize procedures for 911 operators dealing with crisis calls.
The agreement is with the Butler County 911 Center and the Center for Community Resources. It essentially helps lay out the process for how 911 operators should handle a call that deals with a person having suicidal thoughts or an emotional crisis.
The agreement also comes as CCR now acts as the entity that handles calls through 9-8-8—the new suicide and crisis lifeline.
Commissioners say that this also will help the state track better data when it comes to the use of 9-8-8 and how it can continue to help those in crisis.
