Late Tuesday night, crews were called out to an apartment fire in Butler Township.
Fire crews were dispatched to Old Plank Road near West McQuistion road just before 11 p.m. to put out a fire on the second floor of an apartment complex. The fire was located on the south facing wall of the building. Butler Township Director of Emergency Services Scott Frederick said that crews arrived on the scene within a minute and found that the fire was isolated to a hall way and laundry room on the second floor.
Frederick said damage was limited due to the quick response, along with a fire break that was built in the apartment.
However, two adults and three children were displaced from the upstairs unit. There was also two adults and a child from the first floor that were displaced due to water damage. Both families have been assisted by the Red Cross.
The fire is not considered suspicious, but the cause is currently under investigation.
