Bow hunters across the state are getting ready for the beginning of archery season this weekend.
Archery deer season begins Saturday and the Pennsylvania Game Commission would like to remind hunters that the season will continue through November 18th including Sunday, November 13th. Late archery deer season runs December 26th through January 16th.
Hunters are reminded that while illuminated nocks are allowed, transmitter tracking arrows are illegal. Also, tree stands or climbing devices that damage trees are unlawful without permission from landowners. The law also requires hunters on private property to carry written permission from the landowner when hunting on Sundays.
The Game Commission is offering a free online course about archery safety through their website and takes about an hour to complete. Topics covered include tree stand safety and ethical shot placement.
