The Armco Credit Union is warning about an ongoing scam targeting their members.
The scam happens when a fraudster calls and says there’s an issue with a member’s bank account information.
The scammer then asks for their card and bank account information.
“Once the scammer has your information, they start to make fraudulent purchases,” Danielle Chrissy, fraud officer with the Armco Credit Union said.
Chrissy also said that targeted individuals will receive a text message from a valid third party fraud prevention company. However, the scammer instructs the victim to verify the purchases, instead of reporting it as fraudulent.
The scam is also targeting members of other financial institutions.
Chrissy says hang up and call Armco Credit Union or your financial institution directly if you suspect a fraudulent call.
