A local financial institution is warning residents about scammers attempting to make unauthorized transactions.
According to Armco Credit Union, an active fraud ring has been impersonating both Armco staff as well as the credit union’s fraud monitoring company.
When these scammers call members, they ask for debit card information then use it to attempt theft. Armco staff will never ask for debit card numbers. The credit union has been increasing monitoring and security efforts in response to this fraud activity.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is asked to hang up and call Armco directly. Members could also receive a text from the third-party fraud-monitoring company
