An Armstrong County corrections officer is behind bars after he allegedly abused his young child.
Our news partners at WPXI report Jakob Hankey was arrested after he admitted to assaulting his six-week old daughter, leaving her with severe brain injuries.
Hankey originally called 911 on June 19th, saying his daughter slipped from his arms. She was taken to Children’s Hospital, where doctors said the injuries looked suspicious of abuse.
Following an investigation, Hankey admitted to squeezing, dropping, and hitting the child.
The daughter recently came out of a medically induced coma, but her long term prognosis is concerning according to family.
Hankey is in prison and has been suspended from his job.
