Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official is taking steps to make sure the justice system is working correctly for everyone involved.
Earlier this week, Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced the creation of the state’s first Conviction Integrity Unit.
Former public defender and Somerset County District Attorney Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser has been appointed to lead this new group which will report to the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General.
The goal of this unit is to work with counties that might not have the resources available for a review of past cases and to correct any wrongful convictions.
