In recognition of National Salute to Veteran Patients Week, the state’s top law enforcement officer is warning of scams targeting veterans.
According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, scammers are targeting veterans by charging them for services provided for free by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Some fraudsters also pressure veterans into signing over a portion of their earned benefits.
Veterans are asked to be cautious about being charged high fees for filing initial VA benefit claims, promises of expedited claims or guaranteed disability rating, or pressure to sign contacts for initial claims assistance.
Veterans who believe they have been targeted by a scam are asked to contact the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
