Our “Back to School” series continues today as we highlight school districts in Butler County and their efforts to get back to class.
At the Karns City, teachers have already begun their school year as they reported to work last Friday. Superintendent Dr. Eric Ritzert says he hopes a week’s worth of training will help bring teachers up to speed on all the changes amid the pandemic.
“The focus of that is going to be on how to deal with the changes within the school system for the students here in person,” Ritzert said. “Also we’re working with how we teach and provide online instruction better, and more robustly, for the students that may select that option to start the school year.”
Ritzert also said that while the weather’s nice, the district hopes to get students outside as much as possible.
“Quite honestly, we want to be out and moving around. The last thing we want is people to think that with the restrictions put in place that this has become institutional,” Ritzert said. “We want the students to be able to go home and say, ‘I like being here, and I feel safe here.’”
