Our “Back to School” series continues today highlighting the Mars Area School District.
Dr. Mark Gross is less than two months into his job as school superintendent and is really appreciative of the support the community has given him and the district.
“Obviously, I arrived under very difficult times,” Gross said. “The support this community has shown to the district has been amazing. I can’t say enough about the support our community has given us throughout this process.”
Gross also said the district is giving students options for online learning and in-person instruction. But is also preparing for a situation where the state closes down schools because of a spike in cases.
“Should the county close down, or the state comes back with another closure of all schools, our plan here at Mars is to bring our teachers back, work in their classrooms with webcams and lapel mics,” Gross said. “They would actually teach from their classrooms, even if the state were to close us down.”
Gross added that if the district themselves has to close a building due to a coronavirus outbreak, the teachers would then have to teach from home.
Mars students go back to school next Monday.
