Our “Back to School” series continues today as we highlight the Moniteau School District and their efforts to get back to class.
Superintendent Tom Samosky says the district is gearing up for face-to-face instruction—but is also adjusting to the new mask mandate from the state Department of Education.
“I don’t anticipate a huge problem,” Samosky said. “In my experience at Moniteau so far, the community and the students have responded exceptionally well.”
“This directive from the state is done to protect our students and our staff. And I think the vast majority of people understand that.”
Samosky also said that with the additional preparation needed for this school year, he’s is proposing that Moniteau push back its first day of school by one day to Wednesday, September 9th.
“We basically want to ensure that our teachers have the ability to practice with some of the new resources we have in regard to instructional platforms,” Samosky said. “We felt giving them more opportunities to use the tools, is going to build confidence to better serve our students.”
Samosky also wants parents and guardians to fill out a survey indicating how they want their students taught this year.
