A barn is considered a total loss after an early morning fire in Connoquenessing Township.
Crews were alerted just before 6 a.m. for a barn on fire in the 800 block of Whitestown Road—which is just past Eagle Mill Road.
Connoquenessing VFC crews were the first to arrive and found the barn fully engulfed in flames.
Connoquessing Fire Chief Lou Zimmerman said all of the horses were safely taken out of the barn by the homeowner and neighbors prior to the flames increasing in intensity.
Crews were able to knock down the fire by 6:30 a.m. and cleared the scene after 9 a.m.
Fire crews from Prospect and Butler Township helped in fighting the fire. Butler Ambulance was also on the scene, although no one was injured.
