As the Pennsylvania Utility Commission continues to weigh the sale of the Butler Area Sewer Authority to Pennsylvania American Water, both organizations are sending out updates on an initial billing change that is being proposed.
BASA officials say the first change Pennsylvania American Water is looking to implement is how bills are paid.
Instead of a flat rate, customers would instead be billed based upon metered water usage.
BASA officials also say that their rates have been “arbitrarily low for years” and that there will be a $2.50 per month rate increase either before or on the closing date.
