The public is invited to get a closer look at novels available for use by teachers of younger students in the Butler Area School District while the foundation for a new state-mandated program beginning next year has been approved.
At their Monday night meeting, the Butler Area School Board approved placing a variety of reading material for kindergarten through 8th grade on display at the district administration office for 30 days before final approval. These texts were recommended by department chairs and then approved by the curriculum advisory committee.
Also, the board officially adopted new online materials from Business U for 10th graders required to take a half-year Financial Literacy course in 2026-27. These materials were on display at the administration offices for most of September and October.
Financial Literacy is a new requirement from the state under Act 35. The curriculum chosen exceeds requirements including simulations of various financial situations students will encounter as they begin to join the workforce.
