The Butler County Community College men’s basketball team have earned the first berth into a national championship tournament in the program’s 55-year history. The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III selection show Wednesday afternoon revealed the Pioneers have received one of four at-large bids for the tournament being held March 15th through 18th in New York.
BC3 will open the double-elimination tournament next Wednesday against Minnesota-based Rochester Community and Technical College at 4pm.
The Pioneers, under the direction of first-year head coach Joe Lewandowski, went from 2-16 last year to their first winning season since the 2009-10 season this year.
