Butler County Community College has received a large amount of money from the federal government.
During the Wednesday afternoon meeting of the Board of Trustees, BC3 administrators discussed the receipt of an over $5 million employee retention tax credit grant from the IRS.
This grant was applied for last summer when college officials became aware that BC3 was eligible. The program was established as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and expanded under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
This money could be used to rebuild the college’s reserve fund which had to be depleted as a result of closures due to the pandemic.
