Nearly a dozen students at Butler County Community College are receiving funding from the U.S. Department of Defense for cybersecurity education.
BC3 officials say they awarded $7,500 in scholarships this fall to 10 students. The D.O.D.’s grant program aims to grow interest in cybersecurity careers.
BC3 also has been allocated about $400,000 through a partnership with IUP to utilize on students studying cybersecurity over the next three years.
BC3 officials say interest in cybersecurity programming has increased over the last year, with a rise in 32 percent of students involved with the program.
