Butler County Community College’s free adult literacy program will hold a ceremony to graduate 41 students this week.
Commencement for the students who have earned diplomas over the past fiscal year, will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday in BC3’s Succop Theater in Butler Township.
The graduates include eight inmates of the Butler County Prison who had to pass General Equivalency Diploma tests that measure proficiency in language arts, which includes reading and writing; as well as in mathematics, science and social studies.
Leslie Osche, chair of the Butler County commissioners, is scheduled to be the featured speaker at the ceremony with Megan M. Coval, BC3’s president, to deliver the keynote address.
The college’s next high school equivalency diploma preparation classes will begin in mid-September.
