Butler County Community College’s Jacob Marquardt shot the second-lowest score Thursday among 76 men’s golfers competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national championship and moved to within 6 strokes of the lead entering Friday’s final round. Marquardt shot a 4-under 68 Thursday at Chautauqua Golf Club in New York, and is alone in fourth place. No BC3 golfer has placed higher than fifth in the national championship. The Pioneers’ Taylor Voloch had her best round of the women’s national championship yesterday with a 114. She is alone in 13th place and 31 strokes ahead of 18th place. The 18 men’s and women’s players with the lowest scores after four rounds become All-Americans.
