Many local families are set to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal thanks to record-setting fundraising at Butler County Community College.
Officials say thanks to private donations and volunteer work, the college was able to secure turkeys and other Thanksgiving food for 62 residents in need.
During a week of charitable giving in September, the BC3 Pioneer Pantry and the BC3 Education Foundation raised over $16,000 to benefit holiday food distributions in November and December.
An anonymous donor made a $7,500 matching gift, Vintage Coffeehouse donated a total of $500 from specialty coffee sold one day, and Miller’s Quality Meats Butler reduced the cost of hams to benefit holiday meal packages.
The distribution is powered in part by the BC3 food security team and the Pioneer Pantry, which has experienced a drastic increase in the cost of food as they help to reduce local hunger.
