The Better Business Bureau is alerting Pennsylvanians about phone scams claiming to be offering pre-approved loans and back taxes.
These phone scams feature a fake bank and loan processing company, along with a separate call claiming you have owed back taxes.
They will call pretending to be an official from a legitimate financial institution or imply they are from a government agency asking to verify account information or review program eligibility.
To avoid being a victim of this scam, hang up and contact your financial institution to verify information, don’t overshare any information, and be skeptical of urgency, and avoid calling back unknown numbers.
Scam reports can also always be found on the BBB Scam Tracker website.
