Butler Health System’s infectious disease director wants to remind people that it’s important to check with your doctor before taking any medication.
“Some of these drugs that are being proposed, they have no proven benefit but they do have proven risks,” Dr. John Love said. “It really becomes important to balance the risks and benefits with your provider.”
Love says it’s important to stay in touch with your doctor because data surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve.
“If something is more than two to three weeks old, when I’m looking at the medical literature for this topic– it’s outdated,” Love said. “So if you’re looking at something from February about COVID-19, chances are you’re looking at an old mindset or old thought process that has hopefully been revisited.”
Listen to Dr. Love’s full interview with Tracey Morgan that aired Thursday, May 21st on WISR 680 AM.
