Butler Health System officials say they’re expecting to receive doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine once it is approved by the Federal Food and Drug Administration.
BHS Public Relations Director Jana Panther said in an email that both Butler Memorial Hospital and Clarion Hospital will each receive 945 doses, which will be used for healthcare workers.
Frontline bedside caregivers will be given highest priority for vaccination, according to Panther.
She also said that the vaccination will not be mandatory for workers.
The hospital’s COVID-19 Steering Committee will look at all the information about the vaccine and make recommendations that officials say should be considered by anyone eligible to take the vaccine.
Panther also added that the FDA could issue an emergency use authorization very soon, and more information will be provided.
