Butler Health System’s chief medical officer says the vaccination of frontline healthcare workers has gone well so far.
Dr. David Rottinghaus says that the delivery and distribution of the vaccine from the state has been successful to this point.
“Thus far the state has delivered and we have been very pleased with the distribution. As a region, all the health systems have been talking and we will continue to push for more and more vaccine from the Commonwealth so we get our communities well protected,” Rottinhaus said.
Rottinghaus also believes that as more supply comes available, health systems will be ones helping distribute the vaccinations.
“But I think what is going to happen is, that health systems are going to continue to extend their vaccination efforts beyond their walls and out into the community because there are a lot of people doing high risk work,” Rottinghaus said.
The state has told Butler Health System that they will be getting more vaccines, which he says they will distribute to first responders in the community.
Rottinghaus also said that he believes the state will release a tiered system that prioritizes certain demographics for vaccine distribution.
