With the United States Supreme Court accepting to take a case related to gay marriage, one Pennsylvania legislator has proposed legislation to change state law.
Currently in Pennsylvania state law defines marriage between a man and a woman. But federal law supersedes state law allowing for gay marriage in the Commonwealth.
But as the Supreme Court of the Untied States will hear a case challenging a previous ruling the legalized the act, State Representative Malcom Kenyatta has proposed to repeal the section of law that only recognizes marriage as being between a man and woman.
The bill has gone to the house judiciary committee which have a majority of democrats.
