A bill that would classify 911 dispatchers as emergency responders has passed the state House.
Advocates of the bill say emergency dispatchers handle life-and-death situations every day, so they should be classified as first responders.
The bill would allow dispatchers to access more resources like wellness and stress management programs.
The bill passed unanimously and now moves to the state Senate.
