A newly proposed bill in the Pennsylvania house looks to close loopholes on child safety in trucks.
Currently there is a loophole in state law that says larger trucks such as classes III, IV, V and VI or those that weigh over 7,000 pounds are exempt from restraint systems for children.
Studies say that car seats can decrease a child’s chance of dying by 71 percent for infants and 59 percent for children one to four.
If the bill makes it to the governor’s desk it will go into effect 60 days after signing.
