A bill that would require school districts to alert caretakers and staff when a weapon is brought into school has passed through the senate.
The bipartisan bill passed through the senate by a vote of 45 to 4.
The bill would require school districts to inform parents, guardians, and school employees about incidents of a weapon brought on to school campuses.
The bill will now head to house committees as it prepares to head to a vote on the house floor.
