Lawmakers in Harrisburg are introducing legislation that would ban immigration enforcement actions on state and educational properties.
State Senate House Bill 1193, Keep ICE Off Pennsylvania’s Property, would ban any immigration enforcement action taking place within 1,000 feet of state property.
Similar legislation has passed in New York, Connecticut, Illinois, and Washington. Recent court decisions have affirmed those laws. The bill has been introduced to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Two other senate bills would prevent immigration enforcement at all public schools and state higher education institutions. These two bills have been introduced in the State Education Committee.
