Pennsylvania State House lawmakers have passed a bill that will add another member to the board of governors for higher education in the Commonwealth.
By a vote split along party lines, House Bill 938 passed 106-96. The bill will act on a recommendation made by the Commission on Faculty Shared Governance for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Board of Governors.
The current board features students and similar stake holders but not faculty and staff. This bill would add a seat for faculty and staff members to each have a seat on the PASSHE Board of Governors.
The bill advanced to the state senate which does not have a scheduled voting day in July.
