Although all regularly scheduled Catholic Masses will continue as normal this weekend, those within the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh have received dispensation from attending.
Bishop David Zubik made the announcement Thursday following a joint conference call with all the bishops of Pennsylvania. This dispensation will continue until further notice.
Additional information will be made available in the future concerning other sacramental events like confirmation. Zubik suggested increased personal prayer and fasting and to look to God for strength.
The Diocese also cancelled all non-essential sponsored gatherings effective Monday. Fish Fry events—like the one at St. Fidelis—will be moving to “take-out” only at the urging of the Diocese.
