The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh is taking steps to limit the rapidly spreading coronavirus pandemic.
Bishop David Zubik has issued preventative directives such as the distribution of the Precious Blood during the Eucharist is temporarily suspended.
The exchange of the Sign of Peace through physical contact is also temporarily suspended. These precautions are in effect immediately and will continue as long as Zubik deems it necessary.
Holy water fonts will be cleaned and drained on a weekly basis. Also, those who feel ill are not obligated to attend Mass.
Zubik also directs parishioners to clean surfaces frequently, wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, cover sneezes or coughs with an elbow and not a hand, and avoid large gatherings if confirmed cases exist in the area.
Anyone who is sick should stay home.
