The American Red Cross is encouraging eligible donors to help out during an upcoming local blood drive.
The Herman Volunteer Fire Company will host a blood drive on Thursday from 1 to 6:30 p.m.
Officials say the summer months can be among the most challenging times of the year for blood and platelet donations as regular donors delay giving while they take vacations and participate in summer activities.
