Alex Bowman won the pole for this Sunday’s Daytona 500 last night in Florida. It will be the second year in a row he will start the Great American Race from the top starting spot, and fourth consecutive year he will begin in the front two cars. Bowman’s Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron will start on the outside of the front row. The remainder of the 40-car field will be finalized tonight during the Daytona Dual qualifying races.
Chevrolet has now won the Daytona 500 pole position for nine consecutive years. Hendrick Motorsports has won that top spot in six of the past seven seasons.
