The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced plans to eliminate trip through Breezewood and create a throughway to I-70.
However, the new plan is expected to take almost a decade before it comes to fruition.
The Turnpike announced last week that a firm is beginning preliminary engineering work on the designs for the road.
It’s expected that the design and planning work will take about five years. Construction of the connecting road could take another five, according to the Turnpike Commission.
