The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1 last night in the first game of a three-game series. Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich broke the game open with a grand slam in the fourth inning. The blast came after Pirates second baseman Diego Castillo had tied the game with his first career home run in the top of that inning. Pirates starting pitcher Zach Thompson allowed all six Brewers runs on six hits over four innings. The Pirates bullpen pitched another four scoreless innings to complete the game.
The Bucs and Brewers play again tonight at 7:40pm. WISR pre-game is 7:15pm.
