A local school in the Butler Area School District has been chosen to receive grants to improve access to nutritious fruits and vegetables.
Broad Street Elementary School has been awarded just over $17,000.
This money is being dispersed by the PA Department of Education through the federal Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant Program with priority given to schools with the highest rates of students eligible for free and reduced-price meals.
Over $7 million in grants have been awarded to nearly 250 schools in 29 counties across Pennsylvania through this program.
