Crews were called out to Freeport Middle School after a broken water line caused an issue last night.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center for an automatic fire alarm around 11 p.m.
Crews arrived on scene and had a challenge getting to the building due to the snow accumulation in the parking lot.
They eventually found that a broken water line was leaking onto an electrical system, causing an odor.
Water was shut off and crews cleared the scene just after midnight.
