A water treatment plant in southeastern Butler County is set for major upgrades.
The Buffalo Township Municipal Authority was awarded an $8.9 million low-interest loan to expand its treatment plan in Freeport Borough.
Officials with the state say the expansion was needed due to increased residential and commercial development in the existing service area.
The project will add new pumps, a new treatment basin, along with other treatment additions.
No timeline was available on the project.
