The Butler Transit Authority has entered into an agreement that could possibly result in the purchase of more buses to expand commuter service.
The Authority’s Board of Directors approved a bid proposal from MCI to purchase up to four CNG Coach Buses with optional equipment over a five year period for a cost of just over $744,000.
Joining with the BTA in this agreement to get a better group price on buses were Beaver, Central, and Westmoreland Transit Authorities. These buses would be the same size as the buses the authority is already using on their commuter service to Pittsburgh.
The decision about possibly expanding the service could be made as soon as later this fall. Any decision to actually purchase buses through this agreement would need to be approved by the authority board.
