A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit that was filed against the Butler Area School District in 2017.
According to our news partners at WPXI, the settlement allows students that were in the school at that time to receive up to $600 each.
The suit was filed after lead in the water was found to be “far in excess” of safe water standards. The plaintiffs argued that the district delayed in notifying students about the water conditions months after finding out.
The $215,000 settlement will come from a district insurance policy.
