Butler City police have released more information on a shooting and chase that saw one person die late last week.
On Friday officers were called to the 100 block of Whitmire Avenue for a male shot in the shoulder. After investigating it was determined the shooting happened at Ridge Avenue and West New Castle Street.
The victim of the shooting was a 17-year-old male from Butler, he was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. He is now in stable but serious condition and is cooperating with police.
During the investigation it was revealed that the shooter was 20-year-old Devin Russell of Butler. It has also been confirmed that Russell was the one attempting to flee police on I-279 Saturday night.
Russell was also the one who died at some point during or after the chase. Butler City Police were not involved in that incident and did not comment on Russell’s death or the chase.
Butler City Police are now asking anyone with knowledge, video, or anything else in connection to the investigation to call Butler City Police.
