A woman originally from Butler County who is on trial for murder in Florida has been denied a request for a new attorney.
According to our news partners at WPXI-TV, Kimberly Kessler made the request at a hearing earlier this week because she believes that a member of the public defender’s office is related to the woman she is accused of killing. That request was denied by the judge.
Kessler has been charged with the murder of her former co-worker Joleen Cummings near Jacksonville in May 2018.
The public defender’s office has stated that Kessler’s claim is not true. Kessler is expected back in the courtroom November 5th to set a date for jury selection.
