Butler County is now on the spotted lanternfly quarantine map.
The Department of Agriculture recently announced the decision to add Butler and Lawrence County to the list.
Being on the spotted lanternfly quarantine list “strictly prohibits the movement of the lanternfly and regulates the movement of articles that may harbor the insect.”
Some articles include landscaping or construction waste, logs, firewood, and packing materials.
The department also says you should kill a spotted lanternfly as soon as you see it.
