Butler County Emergency Services is upping the cost of a HAZMAT response.
The county approved the increase for a team HAZMAT response from $200 to $375 per hour. There was also an increase in the chemical response price.
Officials say the HAZMAT team does not make money, but need to cover costs. The increase came due to the rising price of tools the response team uses.
The HAZMAT team is called in for fuel spills, unknown chemical releases, and traffic accidents, among other incidents.
