Butler senior golfer Hunter Swidzinksi finished third at the WPIAL Class 3A Championships following a 2-over par round of 73 Monday at the Valley Brook Country Club. The WPIAL Individual Championship scores were a combined total of two rounds, including the round of 77 Hunter shot last week at Latrobe Country Club. The bronze medal finish earns him a spot at the state championships.
Nick Turowski of Penn-Trafford won the individual title, becoming just the second golfer from a Westmoreland County school to win two WPIAL titles since Arnold Palmer became the first in the 1946 and 1947 seasons.
Butler senior Wyatt Kos finished 19th overall, just missing a state qualifying spot. The PIAA tournament will be played at Penn State October 16th and 17th.
The Grove City boys golf team won the District 10 Class 2A championship at Meadville Country Club by 13 strokes over Oil City and Lakeview. The Eagles Isaac Allen tied for medalist honors with a 74 in the opening round of the individual championship, which continues today.
